Love Note/Principles of Spiritual Healing 6

We have arrived at the last installment of this series as we discuss the M in ANTHEM, standing for Match Your Highest Intention.

It can be said that while Attention (the other critical component of healing) is the path, Intention is the engine of both healing and manifestation work.  It’s what drives you to evolve, change, grow.  In that respect it’s akin to desire.

Yet while desire carries its own fuel in the form of the emotions it invokes, intention makes you work to produce the energetic fuel it requires, and therein lies its spiritual usefulness.  It teaches you to first become aware of the energies you’re putting out and then to transform them – tune them – to resonate with what you want to have, do and be.

Thus your Intention offers you a challenge.  If you meet it you will succeed in reaching your goal or carrying out your mission; the result may be highly specific or far-ranging depending upon the vantage point you start from.  If you fall short of whatever you have intended, you will simply be given another challenge, and another and another.  The process, which some have referred to as the future calling you forward, in fact is endless and within it there is no such thing as failure.

So how do you energetically match your intention?  The means is both simple – meaning there are no complicated steps to learn – and difficult in that it can take a lifetime to master.  It is an iterative two-pronged process of holding your intention uppermost in mind, using every sensory means at your disposal, while holding in unconditional love the parts of yourself that are out of energetic alignment with it due to a belief in unworthiness, impossibility, undesirable consequences or fearful side effects.  Eventually all judgments dissolve back into the cosmos of illusive thought forms from where you got them and all parts re-integrate into the Self.  It is a process of culling your truth from all the untruth and allowing the pure light of that knowing to mold your future in its image.

Unconditional love – in its myriad forms of awareness, allowing and acceptance – has been treated at length in this series.  The other side of this work, holding an intention, also requires love – no surprise, since I’ve been writing an ANTHEM to Love – in the form of giving yourself permission to dream.  In this space you entertain the possibility that anything can come true AND realize that even if it doesn’t the dreaming itself was worthwhile.  After all, this is why we go to the movies, read novels and play as children, isn’t it?

The inescapable result of aligning with intention is expansion, which in turn brings us closer to grasping and acting from our true nature as part of the Oneness.  And that is the one intention that was programmed into our being from the beginning of time.

If you’d like some help in energetically matching YOUR highest intentions, get in touch with me here.

Love Note/Principles of Spiritual Healing 5

In the fifth installment of Principles of Spiritual Healing we’ll explore the E in ANTHEM, which stand for Energy Follows Awareness.

This may be the one principle that is most familiar to those of you who have done some energy healing work.  It’s mentioned a lot.  Yet many don’t understand its full implications or power.  Awareness makes everything possible – in fact consciousness is the stuff of which our universe is composed, and awareness combined with energy (otherwise known as emotion) is how your reality is created.  (That process of manifestation will be the subject of another post.)

Awareness allows you to bring energy to an area that could use it (like a tired part of your body), and it’s also the means to move energy out of an area where it is stuck or create a more complete and balanced flow in your body.  And these are just the physical benefits.

Emotionally, awareness equates to light and love, which are other names for energy.  And love is what all the neglected parts of yourself are wanting.  I’ve wrtten about this before, so there’s no need here to repeat it all.  But please don’t underestimate the power of being present, in love, with the aspect of you that is hurting, fearful or angry.  Awareness alone brings hope, comfort and the ability to let go of whatever burden you’re carrying.  Nothing more is needed, as long as the awareness is deep, pure and there for as long as is required.

Cellular memories are released under the gaze of non-judgmental awareness.  Limiting beliefs are exchanged for higher truths.  Traumas soften their sting.  And perhaps most importantly we reconnect with our Divinity simply by allowing ourselves to be aware of (remember) who we are, why we came here and how vast is the love available to us.

I highly recommend that you take a few minutes a day (at least) to bring awareness to your self and all its magnificent elements.  Notice the sensations in your body, pay attention to your emotions and what they feel like (and where you feel them), observe your thoughts and who’s doing the thinking.  And just be with whatever you find.  The energy that your own awareness carries is a powerful healing balm.  Use it liberally.

Love Note/Principles of Spiritual Healing 4

Welcome to the fourth installment of this series.  Today we take a look at the H in ANTHEM, which stands for Harmonize with What Is.

I’ve decided to write this post backwards.  That is, I want to talk first about the ultimate fruits of this practice and then wind my back to how to begin it.  I’m doing it this way because, unless you know what awaits you, you may not be motivated to practice this or understand why it’s so important to your spiritual evolution.

Ultimately Harmonizing with what is allows you to partake of and enjoy ALL that is, which is so huge and magnificent from this vantage point (3D reality) that you have no idea of its true scope and splendor.  It includes more manifestations of consciousness, beauty and creativity than you can even imagine, and you get to share in it all, like a cosmic candy store.  Although you will not experience the full magnificence of All That Is while living in 3 – or even 4 or 5 dimensions – you can, however, catch glimpses of it – and receive any bits you require or desire, but since reality is primarily energetic, you can only do this through the energetic act of harmonization.

In order to get to that point you must first experience other beingness in a specific way, close-up in a kind of energetic merging, which is like looking at the world through each pair of its eyes (and ears and all other senses both recognized and not).  Other beingness, by the way, includes animals, plants, buildings, stars and rocks as well as other human beings.  And harmonizing with it requires full acceptance, appreciation and compassion.

So now we’ve come full circle around to your healing task, because the only way to develop real compassion for any and all other forms of being (consciousness) is to cultivate it for yourself.  Therefore, the practice of harmonization must first address yourself with all your “flaws”, shadows and emotionality.  In other words you must learn to be in the same room (energetically speaking) with all parts of yourself, especially the ones that have been screaming at you out of fear, anger or unrequited grief and the ones that have been hiding out of shame.

This principle, like the others, is an aspect of Love and, as such, is both gentle and powerful.  There is nothing much to do to harmonize with yourself, except to remain conscious, which means to embrace all aspects of you within the whole of your Divine Self, which is made of Love.  Harmonization does not mean reliving the traumas of the child or engaging in the drama or acting out the feelings.  These are all acts of losing the Self.  It DOES mean allowing yourself to feel whatever your upset, fragmented self is feeling and holding that part in love.  This is a re-discovery that leads to integration.

You’ll notice that I’ve used the word feel frequently.  This is how we contact the world of energy, which makes feeling a critical element of any healing exploration. The most evolved human beings feel in full consciousness, and all the time, meaning they are not afraid to feel – and in fact draw strength from it – while they act, relate and create.  And this is the harmony I wish for you.

Contact me if you’d like a session in which you get to take the first steps toward Harmonizing with What Is.

Love Note/Principles of Spiritual Healing 3

Welcome back to the third installment in this series.  Today we look at the T in ANTHEM, Trust your Desires.

Over eons of time, human pathology has become so severe that people no longer even recognize what they want.  They see it in reverse – through the lens of what they DON’T want.  You may have heard of polarity reversal, the state, resulting from stress, in which your energy flow changes direction.  It’s one of the most common hindrances to healing because when you’re in this state, all energy inputs simply become more fuel for your current trance, drama or dis-ease.  Many brain scientists have even said that evolution has given us a negativity bias, a tendency to focus on what can hurt us, as a survival mechanism, unpleasant though it may be.  If you’re in danger of being eaten by a tiger, you better focus on the threat at hand rather than some pleasant daydream.

But situations in our modern lives are rarely this dire, and a state of physical stress is rarely helpful (and, engaged in often enough, can even create some serious diseases).  The good news is that un-reversing the polarity can be as simple as tuning in to and stating what you desire.  Simple, yes.  But don’t let that fool you.  Doing this is one of the most powerful healing acts you can perform.

In fact full healing REQUIRES you to invoke and identify with (in other words become) the beingness behind the objects of your desire.  This might be the sense of freedom that a new car would give you or the knowledge that you are loved underlying the ideal relationship.  Invocation, the act of calling in, means recognizing those states as available to you – at any time and in any situation – and claiming them as your true, Divine nature.

By the way, that’s why the uprisings going on around the world are so spiritually significant.  People are starting to claim what is rightfully theirs, and, in the collectiveness of the rebellions and the compassion and solidarity expressed in them, they are encouraging others to claim their Divine rights as well.

Saying what you want in the midst of a “reality” that looks very different from that requires you to trust the desires that your innate wisdom reveals to you and to believe in the abstract existence of a state which, at the moment, is not being reflected back to you.  This is just another way of saying that you need to imagine it.  Imagination is one of the simplest things we can do.  Yet most people, once past childhood, only partake of this act in the form of worry about the future or regret about the past.  The healing imagination, on the other hand, creates the future you prefer and can even rewrite your past.

Did you always wish for your mother to appreciate you (rather than criticizing)?  Imagine it.

Would you have liked your father to give you permission to be who you truly are?  Imagine it.

Do you want to be doing the work you love for abundant compensation?  Imagine it.

Would you like a juicy relationship full of laughter and sharing?  Imagine it.

So how do you know when you’re doing it right?  By how you feel.  Feeling good – joyful, lighthearted, creative, empowered – is your sign that your mind is where it needs to be for your highest good and your greatest healing.

One final note….   The Gift is a process I designed to help people reclaim the power of imagination, reconnect with their desires and trust their hearts.  If you like the idea of this path to healing, contact me to begin.

Love Note/Principles of Spiritual Healing 2

First of all, please excuse my lateness in publishing this post.  I was without electrical power for several days, which set me back somewhat in my work.  But the return of electricity was accompanied by a surge in my personal energy, and I’m excited to be communicating with you again.

“In the beginning was the Word,” the Bible says, and from that entire worlds were created. Many students of metaphysical thought, such as myself, believe the Word stands for vibration, the energy of Creation.  And yet we know that words themselves have power, that when we pronounce the name of something – anything – we are forging an intimate energetic connection with its essence.  And this gives us access to it.  Its as if a thing’s name is the key that allows us to bring to bear on it the impact of our intention and creativity

And so we come to the second principle of spiritual healing, the N in ANTHEM, which stands for Name it to Release it.

When we name what we are feeling or the thought we are having, or even simply bring our recognition and focus to a bodily sensation, we open an energetic channel, a conduit between our conscious awareness and everything that ever caused or lent energy to the object of our focus.  And it is through that energetic channel that the sensation, emotion or judgment may be released.

The name for this energetic connection, coming to us from the world of physics, is resonance.  I’ve found resonance to be one of the most – perhaps THE most – powerful tools for healing that we have. In fact I have often been amazed to find that simply naming a thing was enough to let it go.

But there is a trick, a sort of key to the key.  And it is this: The awareness doing the naming must, itself, be completely detached from the thing being named.  It may not be caught up in the drama that the conscious (ego) mind has used to continually energize the thing you’re wanting to release. And this ability to remain the calm center of the energetic storm is the province of the Higher Self alone, that all-knowing and embracing witness to outer experience – and it is powered by Love.  So we arrive at another realization, that each letter of ANTHEM represents a different aspect of Love, the only real healer there is.  To heal is to sing an anthem to Love.

Many have written of the Higher Self and many have wondered how to know what it knows and make use of its power.  The truth is that the Higher Self is not hard to contact.  It simply requires surrender to its presence, the simple recognition or statement (there’s the power of word again) that I AM and therefore I know and do.  All else follows naturally, including the return to wholeness, power and joy, which is the desired goal of any healing journey.

In summary, just as Creation requires the Word of the Creator, healing requires you, as the creator of your life, to consciously use your words, your awareness and your love to vibrate and thereby liberate your being.

Love Note/Principles of Spiritual Healing 1

Wow, I feel like I’m returning from a long voyage.

I have not posted in quite some time because I’ve been playing with new modalities and gathering experiences.  It has been quite interesting and rewarding.

But now I’m ready to begin communicating with you again, in the form of a series of posts on the foundations of spiritual healing.  This new beginning coincides with the week of my birthday – always a good time for starting things – as well as the debut of my new radio show on News for The Soul (every other Friday at 2 pm ET). It’s Fall here on the East Coast of the U.S., and the air feels crisp and full of new energies.

I love acronyms, so this series will be based on one.  The word is ANTHEM, and today we’ll discuss the A, which stands for Allow everything.

The only force that truly heals is Love.  The spiritual meaning of love is unconditional acceptance.  To those of you who have been working on healing for some time, it may be obvious by now that the LACK of that kind of acceptance of self – with all your faults, flaws, feelings and perceived failurse – is the only thing standing between you and experiencing life as you truly desire.  But for many this is still a fairly new concept, since we put so much energy and focus into the outside forces (like other people) that we THINK are the cause of the problem. Some examples:  My body won’t do what I want it to, My boyfriend (or husband) doesn’t love me the right way, My job doesn’t make me happy, The economy is terrible and that’s why I’m poor.

So how do you get to that unconditional love of self that I’ve asserted is the answer?  By fully allowing everything you see “out there” to just be without trying to change it.  When you do that, for some magical reason you begin to turn the focus around to the being within yourself.  Your first realization is that you are the only being you can change.  Then, with your new focus of Allowing, you start to spend time with your various parts/aspects withOUT trying to change them and Voila!, one day you finally realize that all parts of you really only want love and that you have actually begun to give them that.  Take a moment (or two) to congratulate yourself.  I knew you could do it, since we were all born to create, face and resolve all our challenges and issues.  With Love.  It’s how we were designed.

Allowing each and every part of yourself – the fearful parts, the angry parts, the sad parts that don’t want to get moving – at first can seem like a big, complicated job.  But the wonderful  paradoxic of healing is that this level of allowing brings about the full integration, and even dissolution, of all the parts into the whole that is You.  And that makes life a lot simpler, as well as more joy-filled.

It can be a bit (or a lot!) scary when you first commit to Allowing everything.  It feels at first like giving up a safety net because we associate resistance with protection.  So keep in mind that I’m here to help.  And remember that the rewards are well worth it.

The next post in this series will appear one week from today.

Love Note/When is a handicap a gift?

Today my good friend Lynnea sent me a video about an autistic boy. (You’ll find a link to the video at the end of this post.) I won’t give away the details, but you know the plot: A person overcomes a handicap to accomplish something amazing, their achievement is celebrated and emotionally shared by lots of people, and the viewer sheds a lot of happy tears.

This was one of several videos in the same genre I’ve seen recently, and it’s gotten me thinking about the entire issue of disability and how it relates to those of us who find ourselves in the fortunate position of being able-bodied and fairly healthy. What I realized shocked me at first, and then unfolded into a revelation that has since become one of the major spiritual themes in my current life. I now pass it on to you in the hopes that it may assist you in your own spiritual evolution.

First the shocking part – I found myself envying the handicapped subjects of the videos – their perseverance, their certainty of their path, the mastery they achieved, and the bond they formed with those who witnessed the results. I asked myself why can’t I do those things? And would it be easier if I had a tangible handicap to overcome?

Of course I immediately tried to cancel this question (since thoughts create, and what could be created here feels a little scary), but it was too late, and anyway, I assured myself, I know better than to resist the flow of a thought that is about to uncover a major piece of my Shadow. To the contrary, I welcome it, since I have come to love my Shadow as much as my Light, as they are but two sides of the same coin of my spiritual Self.

The answer that immediately came from Sam-el (my Higher Self, who revealed this name to me about a year ago) was that I DO have a handicap, and I have yet to overcome it.

As I asked Sam-el to go on, I heard that EVERYONE comes into this life with a lack or disability, that the physical ones are only a small portion of the spectrum, and that we CHOOSE to take them on for a common purpose. Once that purpose is achieved, the disability becomes irrelevant to our lives, but that in order to compel us to achieve the purpose, the specific disability must be something particularly difficult for the individual ego to bear.

Disabilities can be things like poverty, a less than pleasing appearance, or a lack of freedom, support or community. In my case, Sam-el revealed, my disability is the lack of several types of partnership that I have always fervently desired and am not currently enjoying in my life – the intimate kind; the sustained, soul-based work/business variety; and the type that comes from a group of people working together, up close and persistently, on a cause that is dear to their hearts.

This lack has caused me to cry myself to sleep many nights, scheme about how to fill it many days, and feel sorry for myself more times than I can remember (or like to admit). It is (or at least feels) even harder to bear because I HAVE experienced all these kinds of partnership in the past, and the brief intervals when I had them brought me so much peace and fulfillment. (I am after all a Libra, and one that has partnership written all over my chart.)

So then I asked the next logical question (and perhaps, you dear reader have already asked it yourself and are wondering when I’d get around to answering it, or perhaps since you’re so wise you already know the answer!): What is the purpose? And will knowing it help me rise above my disability, which means, will the knowledge end my suffering?

And Sam-el, who never fails to oblige me with answers when I ask the right questions, replied:

We take on disabilities to experience our Divinity.

By now I realized that I was onto something, perhaps even the core of life itself, the driving force of our evolution as spiritual beings. But to understand how and why this was so I had to examine my own disability and see what it had to teach me – maybe even finally LEARN the lesson in order to harvest the Divinity within.

So I asked, What is the gift of my aloneness?

And this time my answer came as a stream of questions.

Did the loss of your intimate relationship not force you to own your projections and encounter the hidden aspects of yourself, in the process healing (and loving) all of your Being, and learn how to give unconditional love to others? And did this not make you a better healer as well as a more peaceful human being?

Has your aloneness not provided the quiet (and the motivation) you needed to go within and commune with me? (This I heard from both Sam-el and God him/herself.)

From that communing have you not experienced Bliss – physical, emotional and spiritual – reliably and repeatedly?

Have you not felt the embrace of ascended masters, angels and beings of all realms and dimensions, and known the purity of love as it resides in your own heart?

Have you not co-created a community of souls around the world bringing peace and healing to Earth, and have you not felt their hearts beating with yours, their laughter and tears, their very breath and life energy surging in your own body?

Has your lack of partnership in work not forced you to realize your abilities and capacities as a business leader? To know in your gut that there is nothing you cannot do in this area, to commit to mastery of your field – healing and teaching – and to grow stronger and more confident with every step on this journey?

Have your clients not been your lovers as well, with an abundance of unimpeded unconditional love passing between you and them in each and every session?

Has your daughter not come to know you as a model of womanhood, as someone she can count on and take inspiration from, as a fountain of love for her?

And then I heard perhaps the most important truth of all.

Your lack, and the pain it has caused you, has made you feel different, BE different from others. And that single difference is the chink in the wall that has enabled you to tear down the entire illusion of a fixed world, run by one set of rules that applies to everyone and by which everyone is judged.

That single difference is strong enough to break through the density of matter, the oppression of bad news, the inertia of all you thought you had become and were stuck doing. It is enough to bring into question Identity and Duality themselves, the bedrock of our 3D existence.

So here’s the Truth, the core of my lesson: Nothing is as it seems. The Real lies within. Life is a game which we all play with the same FULL spiritual deck, and whose rules we get to make up as we go along. I am not alone and have never been. My aloneness has set me firmly on the path of spiritual mastery. And, like all journeys, this one has no final destination, and can be enjoyed, if I choose, for its own sake .

As for partnerships, who’s to say if mine are better or worse than those of my neighbor to whom I compare myself. Or perhaps she’s just got a different disability; may she discover its gift and thereby experience her own Divinity. For mine I’m eternally grateful.
